Biograpghical review

Dr. Mary E. McBean is a Mature Woman, Community Activist, and Former Mayoral Candidate, Small Business Owner, CEO/President of a 501 C 3 Organization, California State Retiree and has been a resident of California since graduating from L. J. Rowan high school in Hattiesburg, MS. She is the proud mother of a son of which he and his wife has blessed her with two wonderful grandchildren maternal twins, a boy, and a girl.   

Mary started her journey and career as a Domestic Caregiver, Salesclerk, Nanny, Nurse’s Aide, Janitor, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Nurse Educator, and Technical Nurse due to being the First recipient of the Marilyn Carlisle Nursing Fund to completing an R.N. program in one year following specific requirements. Just as she worked hard for fifteen years, her journey did not stop there because her perseverance continued for another fifteen years. 

Her dedication to excellence and her Christian upbringing brought her to California Baptist University to pursue a master’s in education, which she sought and obtained. Still, she continued onward to earn a Master’s degree in Nursing along with a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Education. Continuing to move on further, she enrolled in a Bio-Medical Ethics program at Loma Lind University, finishing and lastly earning a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an Ethics thesis.    

Just as her career and education trajectory moved her forward in passion and desire to be an asset to her community, she devoted her energy and efforts by serving on the Arts Commission Board, Accessibility Appeals Board, and the Senior Citizens Advisory Board and was a Moral Candidate twice.   

Equally important, all work and no play, Mary is an amateur writer and has written a non-fiction book about her bout with breast cancer and frequently writes poems and short stories. Her first short story was as a teenager in Mississippi, which was awarded an honorable mention from the publisher, plus 500 bags of potato chips.
